Bonifacio beaches on the map:
All beaches of Bonifacio:
Rondinara Beach
Its shell shape makes it one of the most sheltered from the wind on the east coast. Its fine sand, turquoise water and the abundant vegetation that surrounds it are very popular with bathers.
Want some advice? Beware of the only access road, narrow and winding, where traffic quickly becomes difficult. Do not hesitate to go there in the morning!
Balistra Beach
Located north of Sant Amans Bay, this large sandy beach is relatively isolated. There is access for people with disabilities.
A little hungry? The restaurant on the beach offers good food, but it is often crowded. It is possible to book a table the day before!
Mahora Beach
Mahora Beach is a famous surfing spot. It also has free parking and restaurants located in front of the sea.
In a sporty mood? You can rent pedalos and play beach volleyball.
Cala Longa Beach
Families will appreciate this beach, where the crowds are relatively reasonable and the sea is shallow. The access is a bit tricky, but it’s a great way to feel alone in the world!
An Italian neighbor? The secret of Cala Longa Beach is revealed on a clear day: a breathtaking view of the Sardinian coast.
Piantarella Beach
This is undoubtedly the best beach for water sports. Many kitesurfers and windsurfers meet on the turquoise water as soon as the wind picks up!
Petit Sperone Beach
This small beach, located northeast of the tip of Sperone, opposite the island of Piana, is characterized by very fine white sand and crystal clear water. In summer, however, it is packed with holidaymakers!
How to get there? You have to cross Piantarella Beach entirely on foot to reach this little wonder.
Grand Sperone Beach
This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica! The seabed is gently sloping, the landscape is like a postcard. You will also be surprised by the cows that come to admire the bathers!
Fazzio Beach
There are many boats around this beautiful bay: in fact, it is easier to get there by sea, because the path to the beach is steep and crosses the Corsican maquis. Don’t forget to take fins, mask and snorkel, the seabed here is beautiful!
Paraguano Beach
Paraguano Beach is one of the best-kept secret beaches in the south of Corsica. It is ideal for a holiday away from the crowds, because its advantage is that it is almost deserted.
A short hike? It is the starting point for many hikes and walks around Capo di Feno or the Madonetta lighthouse.
Stagnolu Beach
It is often visited in summer, especially by lovers of wild nature. Indeed, the mountains and dunes that surround this beach make it one of the most “natural” near Bonifacio.
In the clothes of Eve and Adam? Naturism is allowed south of the beach.
Tonnara Beach
This magnificent beach has it all. Its many quiet coves will delight lovers of wild nature, while the more sporty can enjoy kitesurfing and water skiing. Quite rarely visited, this beach is certainly the perfect place for sunbathing in peace!
The best beaches in Bonifacio:
Plage du Grand Sperone
The beach of Grand Sperone is located on the top of Sperone and south of the Golf, and is one of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica. Open to the sea, which is often rough, with very fine and white sand and a white that is usually found only on the outlying islands. The view of the Lavezzi Islands and even Sardinia is beautiful in clear weather. The seabed is gently sloping. The beach is quite accessible even in summer, because it can be reached on foot from Piantarella beach (about 20 minutes walk).
To get to this beach from the port of Bonifacio, take the D58 and turn right towards the Sperone golf course and Piantarella on the D260. Follow the road to the sea, at Piantarella beach there is a car park (and thatched huts). Go south. Cross Plage Piantarella, then a point where there are ruins; you will find yourself in the Petit Sperone bay. Cross it and climb the stairs leading to the golf course. A path passes through it around the top of Sperone to the beach of interest.
The beach is suitable for snorkeling.
Plage du Petit Sperone
Petit Sperone Beach in Bonifacio is located northeast of Point Sperone opposite the island of Piana. There is a pond in the background and the Sperone Golf Course overlooks the beach. This small strip of beach is covered with fine, very bright white sand. However, the beach is quite small (less than 100 meters long) and is fairly easy to access with parking a ten minute walk north. It gets very busy in summer but you can always get to the Grand Sperone Beach, which is a ten minute walk south.
To get to this beach from the center of Bonifacio, take the D58 then turn right onto the D260 towards Golf of Sperone (also signposted Piantarella). Follow the road for 5 km to the sea. Piantarella Beach is nearby. Go down south (passing Piantarella Beach completely, then the point where the Piantarella ruins are).
Plage Tonnara
The beautiful beach of Tonnara is located south of the Gulf of Ventilegna in Bonifacio. The environment is preserved; there are very few buildings in the area (a few buildings in the port of Tonnara), which are quickly forgotten a hundred meters along the coast. The sand is quite coarse, but it is not difficult to get here, which is rare in Corsica. From the main beach (near the car park) there is a beautiful view of the nearby islands of Tonnara (about 100 meters). Among the rocks along the coastline there are many small quiet coves. You can also enjoy kitesurfing or water skiing (in summer).
This beach is located about 20 minutes west of the center of Bonifacio on the road to Ajaccio (N196). Follow the national road for 9 km, then turn left onto the D358 in the direction of Tunnara (it has many signs advertising restaurants). Along the beach, 1.5 km away, there is a car park.
There are restaurants on the beach and sun loungers for rent.
Plage Styagnolu
Stanhiolu Beach in Bonifacio is located south of the Ventilegne Bay and the small port of Tonnara, stretching approximately 300 meters with fine white sand. Nestled between mountains and dunes, it is one of the wildest beaches in Bonifacio, though easily accessible (just a 10-minute walk). Behind the beach, there’s a pond (which can sometimes emit an odor depending on the season). It’s worth noting that naturism is permitted on this Corsican beach, and it serves as a mooring spot for boats.
To reach this beach, park at the Tonnara Beach parking lot (N196 towards Ajaccio), then turn left towards Tonnara Beach and follow the coastal path to the left (a 10-minute walk).
Plage de Rondinara
Rondinara Beach, situated between Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio, is widely regarded as one of Corsica’s most stunning beaches and understandably very popular during the summer months. Its unique round shape, with two land arms reaching into the Mediterranean, creates a natural cove, offering calm waters and a gently sloping seabed, ideal for swimming. The beach’s busiest section is near the parking area, but there are quieter, smaller coves at the northern end and around the Prisarella pond, accessible with a short walk.
In the summer, you’ll find a small beach hut where you can rent sun loungers.
Getting there:
- From Porto-Vecchio: Take the N198 towards Bonifacio. After the Figari roundabout, continue 11 km, then turn left onto the D158.
- From Bonifacio: At the Propriano roundabout, take the N198 towards Porto-Vecchio for 11 km, then turn right onto the D158.
D158 is a winding road with many turns that lead down to the car park (paid car park in summer) in Rondinar (7 km).
The beach has restaurants, sun loungers for rent. Smoking is prohibited.
Plage Campo Mezzano
Campo Mezzano Beach is nestled in the Gulf of Ventilegna in Bonifacio, on the west coast of the peninsula that shares its name. This charming sandy beach is one of the most beautiful in both the Gulf of Ventilegna and Bonifacio. Despite its beauty, it remains relatively unknown and uncrowded even in summer. While access requires a 4WD vehicle, it’s worth the effort. At the far end of Campo Mezzano, you’ll find several small sandy coves, though they are less sheltered than the main beach, particularly when the sea is rough. The eastern coast also boasts some picturesque creeks.
