Parking in Colmar

Colmar offers 7,000 paid and free parking places. Street parking in Colmar is divided into two zones: the entire center and the area near the train station are in the orange zone, while the periphery is in the green zone. The tariff depends on the zone, but in all cases, the maximum parking time is limited to 8 hours, after which the cost increases sharply.

For long-term parking, it’s better to choose an underground parking garage — there are quite a few in the city center.

Street parking in Colmar can be paid at parking meters using coins, credit cards, or through one of three apps on your phone: Paybyphone, Easypark, and Flowbird. Payment for underground parking is made at automated machines using credit cards or cash.

Free Parking in Colmar

To encourage short-term parking and optimize vehicle turnover, the first hour is free in all covered parking garages in the city: Mairie, Rapp, Saint-Josse, and Gare-Bleyle.

The paid section of Lacarre Parking (301 places) offers its users 3 hours of free parking. The outdoor section (389 places) is free regardless of the parking duration (7:00 AM to 1:00 AM on weekdays and 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sundays and holidays).

Capitaine Dreyfus Parking offers almost 350 free parking spaces.

Colmar is one of the few cities left in France where you can still park for free on street parking (on streets and parking lots) from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 AM the next day, including Sundays and holidays.

Blue Zone and Minute Parking

Some streets or parking lots, especially in popular areas, are in the “blue zone,” allowing free parking (limited to 3 or 4 hours) with a blue parking disk displaying your arrival time.

290 “minute” spots allow free parking for 15 minutes.

Street Parking in Colmar

Many street parking spots in Colmar are only paid from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. So, you can park for free from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and leave your car for free overnight after 7:00 PM.

Unpaid or insufficiently paid parking is fined with a post-parking ticket (FPS) of €35 in Colmar. If you partially paid for parking, the amount already paid is deducted from the FPS. FPS can be paid online at www.stationnement.gouv.fr.

Covered parking garages provide the opportunity to leave your car in a secure place (at least under surveillance cameras) for a long time, without needing to move it every 8 hours.
