Plage de l’Ostriconi (Ostriconi beach)
Plage de l’Ostriconi is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica. This 700-metre-long white sand beach, located in the Baie de Peraiola, is bordered to the north by the Agriates Desert and to the south by l’île Rousse, in one of the most beautiful and wild regions of northern Corsica. Behind the beach are dunes and a lagoon.

From the car park, you will walk past the river and green area to the beach, a beautiful sandy spit with mountains in the background. The quintessence of Corsica: a paradise beach and mountains! This walk through the wild nature takes fifteen minutes, and it is advisable to take shoes with you, knowing that it is sometimes necessary (it is not dangerous!) to ford the small river Ostriconi, which flows into the bay. The last bend of the trail goes along the edge of a pond with a small bridge that leads to the beach.
In summer, the beach is under the supervision of lifeguards: their wooden hut is made a little in Californian style! You also need to be very vigilant on windy days, because the waves can become dangerous and swimming may be limited.
Pets are allowed on a leash.

Going in the direction of the fabulous desert of Agriates, you will have a unique experience: you will be able to reach small coves with fine sand and turquoise waters, where sometimes you can even be alone, as if in paradise or at the end of the world, enjoying the sound of the waves and the incredibly beautiful nature on these 35 – 40 km of still virgin beaches.
Take water with you, because there are no sunbeds or umbrellas on the beach, which makes it even more wild and natural.
The most curious can get closer to the Foce pond, made up of the Ostriconi and Vadellare meanders, with a marsh behind the mouth: it is a protected wet biotope with reeds of extraordinary beauty.
If you have time, do not hesitate to admire the sunset and then go closer to the pond: when the wind dies down, its surface becomes like a mirror, reflecting the burning sky.
How to get to Ostriconi beach
Ostriconi beach is not very crowded, as it is quite far from the big cities. However, it is easy to get to from Ile Rousse. To get there, you need to take the N1197 or route 30, then there will be signs for the beach. The path to the beach goes from the free parking.
